Archaeological site of Alba Fucens

Not far from the large modern city of Avezzano, you can visit the archaeological site of Alba Fucens. This was once a Roman colony founded between 304 and 303 BC near the historic road that connected Tiburtina and Valeria. The fortification walls are well preserved and you can also see remains of buildings and Roman roads.
