This museum is dedicated to the discovery and understanding of the Abruzzo region and its cultural heritage. It was founded in 1973 to offer visitors a journey through the history of the region, starting from the Paleolithic period to modern times. It is housed in the historic Bourbon barracks and exhibits are spread over 16 large rooms.

An educational and fascinating museum exhibition

The Museum of the People of Abruzzo traces the history of man in Abruzzo from his first appearance as a Paleolithic hunter, underlining the contribution made by the Italian tribes to the confirmation of Rome, and a brief summary highlights how much of this past has been transmitted to us in terms of customs, beliefs, places of worship, productions, objects, forms.

The central theme of the museum, divided into 16 large exhibition halls, is in fact the concept of continuity, of cultural perseverance, illustrated by multimedia tools, educational laboratories, library, photo library, audio library, restoration laboratories, warehouses, exhibition spaces and auditoriums, for a total of 3,500 m2
