The Cathedral of San Cetteo
The Cathedral of San Cetteo
The Duomo of Pescara is a prominent Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint Cetteus, the patron saint of the city. The cathedral was only built in the 1930s, replacing the medieval church of San Cetteo.
The construction of the cathedral was strongly promoted by the famous writer Gabriele D'Annunzio (more about him below), who was baptized in the old church. His mother (Luisa De Benedictis) is even buried there and the chapel of Saint Cetteus is also not to be missed.
The facade had to be rebuilt after the Second World War, which is why it still looks so radiant today.
