Majella National Park

In the Majella National Park (or Maiella) you can discover the Majella massif. The Monte Amaro is the highest mountain with its 2793 meters. No less than 500 kilometers of hiking trails have been mapped out in the park. Do not miss the cave paintings Grotta del Cavallone (see location here), it is also one of the deepest caves in Europe that is accessible to the public.

Those who like to go for a walk can walk from Fara San Martino to the monastery of San Martino in Valle (count on 1 hour there and back, 4 km). The starting point can be found here, via a narrow gorge you walk to the remains of the 9th century monastery.
